Wheel Fanatyk is an opportunity many years in coming. This is a chance to share what I know and learn about bicycles: how they work, what makes them last longer and go faster, what mechanical techniques bring the best results. The pursuit of bicycle wisdom is a wonderful journey.
For nearly 40 years this quest has been fueled and informed by all sorts of generous mentors. We share the passion and want cycling bigger and richer for everyone, not just better for ourselves. Meeting and learning from such people has created a larger family than I can repay, except by passing it along. Our collective advice is free and we hope it is useful and that you do the same.
Throughout, I am especially delighted to discover bicycle devices that stretch the limits of perfection in function, simplicity, beauty, and economy. Wheel Fanatyk is the home of a number of such items. It is with great pride that we represent and support some of the finest creations in the name of cycling.
Tools have become our specialty, especially wheel oriented, since I am a mechanic and wheelbuilder. Today the bicycle tool world is populated by some truly amazing devices. And young bike mechanics are at work who will shape our futures much as Orville and Wilbur or even Henry Ford have.
Notice that Wheel Fanatyk is more than Ric. Brother Jon and I shared Wheelsmith for 25 years. My wife, Donna, began building wheels at Wheelsmith in the ’80’s. Daughter Kristina grew up in bike workshops and rarely misses a day of pedaling. We and umpteen colleagues around the world are happy to help keep the flames of wheel passion and invention bright.
